Stephanie Trenz in December 2024: «Working with Ute Noll in the 1:1 workshops was an extraordinary and enriching experience, which raised my project «Unter vier Augen» about a very private and last 1:1 conversation with my father to a new level. It was exhibited as part of the Photo Summer with the Female Photo Club.
From the very first conversation, it was clear how precisely and sensitively Ute was able to understand the artistic position and the intention of the project. Her clear analysis and constructive criticism were always appreciative and goal-oriented. Particularly with regard to the exhibition concept, she inspired me to develop a central theme that perfectly combines both my visual language and and my personal message.
One highlight was working on my self-portraits. Her expertise in the selection of images helped me to identify those works that were not only aesthetically strong, but also in terms of content, and which clearly expressed my own personality. At the same time, she always gave me enough space for my own perspective and sensitively contributed her experience.
Ute was also an invaluable support for my exhibition practice. From the presentation of the works in the gallery to the preparation of the handout for the visitors, she gave me valuable tips on how to communicate my content clearly and convincingly. Her input on my artist statement was precise and inspiring; she knew how to put my thoughts into powerful words that authentically reflect my artistic point of view.
The selection of images for the handout and the revision of the sound recording were further aspects in where Ute proved her extraordinary sense for details. Her feedback on the audio recording was nuanced and led to an result that not only informed the visitors, but also touched them.
The flexibility of the collaboration – whether in the gallery, via Zoom, telephone or WhatsApp – was particularly helpful. Ute was available at all times and responded quickly and competently to new questions or challenges. I am very much looking forward to many more joint projects.»
